Business Objects is a web-based reporting program that allows BYUH Faculty and Staff to create reports themselves without having to submit an Information Process Request to MIS. Reports are built against a Data Warehouse that contains data copied directly from Datatel.

The Data Warehouse is an Oracle database that is separate from Datatel. This warehouse holds end-of-semester snapshots of data for each term since 2000. These snapshots are kept as history and do not change after final posting for the semester or term. We keep information on students, classes, faculty, and graduates.

Current term data is also available. A snapshot of key data fields is taken from Datatel once every day at 11pm for the current semester or term. For this reason, changes made in Datatel will not be reflected on Business Objects reports until 11pm that night.
