Assessment
BYU—Hawaii is committed to continuous improvement. Each academic and administrative unit completes
an assessment plan annually that contains several specific outcomes to work on for the year. Usually,
each desired outcome in the plan has two means of assessment. The University Assessment Committee (UAC),
composed of 6-faculty members and 6-administrators, reviews all assessment plans during the year and
oversees campus-wide assessment efforts and initiatives. Completed assessment plans (for the previous year)
and proposed assessment plans (for the coming year) are due no later than October 31st. Department
chairs/directors present their current and proposed assessment plans to the committee each year from
November to February and receive feedback which will help strengthen their assessment efforts.
