U.S. Citizens Traveling Abroad

Going on business or vacation to another country?

Prior to traveling to another country, you should consult the U.S. Consular Information Sheet for the particular country or countries where you plan to travel. The CIS includes important country entry and exit requirements, security and crime information, availability of conditions, and other topics. The Department of State in collaboration with the U.S. Emb has a CIS for every country in the world.

Consular Information Sheets are available at http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1765.html

Before you travel, register your trip with the Department of State so that the U.S. Embassy for the country where you will travel can notify you in the event of an emergency. Whether it is an in-country emergency or an emergency back home in the U.S., registering your trip will help family members stay in touch.
