Q. What is a CAP?
A. The Career Advancement Plan (CAP) is a planning tool to help you identify how to best utilize your BYU Hawaii educational training and your personal interests and abilities in a career and then prepare for the workforce.
Q. What is the real purpose of this thing?
A. To help you gain meaningful employment, in other words, a GOOD JOB, when you graduate from college.
Q. How do I get a CAP?
A. The CAP is automatically assigned to students enrolled at BYU Hawaii since Fall 2006 and any future enrollees. The requirements are listed in the Checklist section of your MyBYUH page.
Q. How is the CAP structured?
A. The CAP is divided into 4 sections: CAP A (tasks to be completed by 45 hours), CAP B (tasks to be completed by 60 hours), CAP C (tasks to be completed by 90 hours), and CAP D (tasks to be completed by 120 hours). The hours (ie, 45, 60, 90, 120) refer to the number of academic credit hours that are non-EIL credit hours.
Q. How do I get help with my CAP requirements?
A. Career Advisors from the BYU Hawaii Career Center can answer your questions regarding the CAP and can assist you in completing any tasks with which you need assistance.
Q. Where can I get more information on the CAP?
A. Go to the Career Services website: www.byuh.edu/career and select CAP (Career Advancement Plan) from the index or the Students page. (Note: The new website will not go "live" until January 11th, 2007.)

Q. What happens if I don't do the CAP?
A. The CAP is required of all new students enrolled since Fall 2006 and any future enrollees. Those who do not complete the requirements will receive warning notices that action needs to be taken. If the assigned tasks are not completed by the due date, restrictions may be placed on your BYUH accounts which could block registration.
